Jojo is growing. I picked her for coloring 2-days after she was born with the idea she could be a strong, and hopefully a larger size Cavalier like her parents (we spend a lot of time outside, running, biking, and swimming). But, it was a litter of 9 pups!, and she was the ‘runt’ when she came home with us. Good food and exercise and she’s doing well, almost surprised how fast she growing, very friendly, and beautiful

Jojo had a serious accident about 2 months ago. We were walking on a dirt Park forest road and a motorcycle came out of no where and ran over her. She had a dislocated hip. The 3rd doctor we visited was able to put it back in place without surgery. A sling and little movement with a lot of pain for 10 days. She lost .5kgs and it was a traumatic time for all of us, especially our sweet and energetic puppy. But, there was improvement everyday, and no pain now. She has been getting around well and running more. Still some weakness maybe, or it could be psychologic with all the pain she went through. Maybe some long term effect with the connective tissue damaged, but for now she seems fully recovered. Will continue to feed her well, and watch her weight, buildup her muscle strength, and keep her happy. Looking forward to swimming in the sea with her this summer. She loves the water.

Jo is doing well. She is not having any problems after her hip displacement and time to heal; running, walking, jumping, and swimming normal. There still could have problems in the future, but for now we couldn’t have asked for a better recovery. She is well built with a strong muscular frame. I’m not running her as much as my previous Cavalier because of her injury, but she is happy to run along beside my bicycle for 2km or more daily if I let her.

Big day today, it’s JoJo’s 1-year birthday. She’s pretty much a full-grown adult size at this point and will fill out a bit more with muscle and weight, and looking very good. The fur coat is filling out too in length and getting ready for the winter cold. It has been good tracking her weight on the site here and comparing her to other Cavaliers. She’s 7kgs at his time, no fat, and so would be considered an ‘average’ size female. She is a very loving dog, enjoying her lap-time in the house, but maybe unlike many Cavaliers she is also a ‘field dog.’ Spaniels were originally bred for hunting, and she shows all those natural instincts. She’s fully recovered from her hip displacement and we run every day, usually in the 3-4 kilometers range along beside my bicycle, swims in the sea, and long walks on the beach and in the forest. If there is one thing I can say to other Cavalier owners, lots of exercise is so important. As I say of my previous Cavalier ‘Santa,’ and JoJo here, they are my ‘small sport dog.’ :-) They can be a ‘house dog,’ but thrive in the outdoors. I think at the 1-year mark this will be my final post. So enjoy your dog(s), have fun, keep them active, don’t overfeed them, and give each other all your love!
